New Imp Studios: Nelson’s New Rehearsal Space Wants Bands to Practise the Show, Not Just the Set

NELSON, UK — A major new addition to East Lancashire's grassroots music infrastructure has officially opened its doors in Nelson. Imp Studios, a purpose-built rehearsal and creative production facility, is inviting local bands, touring acts, and solo artists to rethink how they prepare for live shows.

Rather than offering basic soundproof rooms, Imp Studios has been designed around live performance production—giving musicians the space, acoustics, and stage setups to practice their complete live show, stage presence, and lighting, not just their song setlists.

The new Nelson venue features fully equipped rehearsal rooms, backline amplification, high-spec PA systems, and acoustically treated practice environments tailored for everything from emerging indie quarter bands to heavy rock outfits and touring acts preparing for North West festival dates.

"Too often bands practice in small, cramped rooms where they can't move around or test how their live sound actually project across a real stage," said the studio management team. "Imp Studios was built to give North West musicians a proper production environment in Nelson where they can rehearse like they are on stage at a venue or festival showcase."

The arrival of Imp Studios marks another positive milestone for Nelson and the wider East Lancashire music scene, providing a dedicated home for creative collaboration, pre-tour preparation, and artist development.
